DIY with Sally Beauty Supply.

My first DIY post!

My first DIY post! Ok, let me just start off by saying that I am no artist or nail tech, but I decided to give some DIY nail designs a try. I wanted to attempt the melting polish trend I had seen around on Pinterest and Instagram before. I stopped into a local Sally Beauty Supply store and was pretty impressed by their collection of polishes. It was hard to narrow down my color choices given that they carry over 750 shades. I love neutral or dark colored nails just because I feel like they look good all year round. I decided on Black Cherry Chutney by OPI, Fast Forward Top Coat by China Glaze, and Sketch Me & Black Expressionism by FingerPaints which is exclusive to Sally Beauty stores. I started off with two coats of Sketch Me by FingerPaints as a base color. It’s a pretty pinkish mauve, and I’ve been obsessed with mauve lately. Next I took the Black Cherry Chutney by OPI and created careless dark French tips. After completing the French tips, I dipped the brush back into the jar to absorb a heavy amount of polish. I then created two or three dots on each nail, as shown. Using the Flat Sable brush #4, I carefully dragged any excess polish from each dot up to the French tip. I then filled in where I thought was necessary to create a gooey melting shape. To be honest, it’s not as clean as I had hoped but it isn’t terrible for my first time! I topped it off with the Fast Forward Top Coat by China Glaze which gave it a shiny finish!

This post was sponsored by Sally Beauty through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about Sally Beauty, all opinions are my own.
